Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your Alter account together with the personal data linked to it, and how to request deletion of data processed through the Instagram connection and the agent's communication channels.

1. Deleting your Alter account

You can delete your account right in the app or on the web — no support request needed. Personal data associated with you is deleted or anonymized together with the account.

  1. Business owner: open More → Settings → Account and tap “Delete account”. If you are the company’s last user, the company data is deleted as well.
  2. Staff member: open Profile and choose “Delete account”. Your personal data (phone, name, photo) is removed; the business’s operational records are kept in anonymized form.
  3. After confirmation access ends immediately and active sessions are revoked.
  4. Device push tokens and notification settings are deleted with the account.
  5. If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the phone number the account is registered to — we will delete it manually within 30 days.

Some records may be retained longer where the law requires it (e.g. accounting records).

2. What data may be stored

When you connect an Instagram account to Alter, we may store data required to provide messaging and automation features, such as:

  • Instagram account ID, username, and profile information
  • Connected Business account identifiers
  • Access tokens required to operate the integration
  • Message history, customer conversation data, and related metadata
  • Internal channel settings connected to your business account

We do not ask for or store your Instagram password.

3. How to disconnect Instagram access and delete dialogs

You can disconnect Instagram from Alter at any time and delete the dialogs associated with that Instagram account:

  1. Sign in to your Alter account.
  2. Go to AI Agent → Communication Channels.
  3. Select the connected Instagram channel.
  4. Click Settings → Disconnect Instagram.
  5. In the confirmation window, select the checkbox Delete all dialogs for this Instagram account from Alter.
  6. Confirm the action.

After disconnection, Alter will stop accessing your Instagram account. If you selected the checkbox, all dialogs associated with this Instagram account will also be deleted from Alter.
